Everyone is welcome to attend any of our regular meetings, regardless of success achieved, age and writing genre. Come along to any of our meetings to receive a warm welcome from Norwich Writers’ Circle.

New members are always welcome to join NWC’s varied yearly programme of guest speakers, workshops, in-house competitions and social events.

Although we welcome guests to any meeting, members receive benefits that non-member guests do not. We offer two types of membership:

Full Membership

The full membership is designed for those who are interested in attending our in-person meeting, social gatherings, and workshops. Benefits include:

Reduced door fee

The door fee we charge is to help us cover to cost of the room, however, members only pay a £3 door fee, while guests pay £6.

Free entry into our in-house competitions

We run three in-house competitions every year. Every entry receives a critique from the adjudicator, even if they didn’t win. Members can enter for free. This means you can get your work critiqued by a writing professional for free.

The chance to take home a trophy

The winners of our in-house competitions also receive a trophy. Their name will be engraved on the trophy and they will get to keep it for a year so they can proudly display it. While non-members can enter our in-house competitions, only full members can win one of our coveted cups.

Support from the group

Have you just published a book? We’ll spread the word far and wide at our meetings and on our social media. We’ll also do the same for book launches, and even promote other things like freelance services you’re offering like editing or graphic design. We love supporting our members.

Make friends in the writing community

We’re a friendly bunch. At the end of every meeting we break for coffee so we can all chat and catch up. If you’re looking to get out and meet other writers, our group is a perfect fit.

Whether you want to ‘talk shop’ or just chat about anything in general, our group offers a social experience and allows you to get out and meet new people who share your interests.

Get help and advice from industry professionals

We have a varied programme which includes speakers. Our speakers are successful professionals in the publishing industry which in the past has included best-selling authors, editors, publishers, and creative writing teachers. At our meetings you can chat with our speakers and ask them questions.

Members only area

You’ll be able to access past workshops, talks, and even tips and hints from past speakers, so even if you didn’t manage to make a meeting, you can access the content whenever you want.
