On Tuesday 5th October, we had our first workshop of the season led by Gill Blanchard of The Past Search.
Guests bough in photos or heirlooms and Gill walked us through how to go about starting a family history, but also how to keep it interesting.
For example, we did an exercise where we though about different ways of giving the same information such as birth dates, marriages, and such.
Gill reminded us all to be careful not to just give a series of dates but try to offer some personality of the people we are writing where possible.
We’d like to thank Gill for her inspiring workshop, and everyone who attended.
Our next meeting is a writing-sprint evening on the 19th October. Bring a WiP to work on and get a few distraction free writing/editing hours in. We’ll even provide some complimentary cupcakes, tea, and coffee. Guests and members are welcome.
Door fee: £6 guests, £3 members.
We hope to see you there.
