Pedigree

Congratulations to Norwich Writers’ Circle member James Dimelow, whose short play ‘Pedigree’ has been published by Fine City magazine.

The blackly comic Shakespeare-inspired short is featured inside the magazine’s January 2016 edition. The popular free glossy can now be read online, before being made widely available across the city over the festive season.

We look forward to hearing James’ play performed during one of our future meetings at Anteros Arts Foundation.

Escaping Hitler

WordPress Phyllida Scrivens Escaping Hitler Cover

Exciting news about another member in the spotlight. This time it’s Phyllida Scrivens, our recently elected chairman with her biography of Joe Stirling. Escaping Hitler: A Jewish Boy’s Quest for Freedom and His Future has its official launch event at Jarrolds Department Store in the centre of Norwich on Thursday 4th February from 6.00pm.  Both the Lord Mayor and the Sheriff will be attendance.  I will be making a brief presentation on Joe’s life and how the book came about, followed by a Question and Answer session with both Phyllida and Joe.  A book signing will follow.

Tickets are on sale NOW! They can be purchased both in Store from Customers Enquiries on Floor 2, and from the Events page on Jarrolds website. A glass of wine is included.
Phyllida wants to be sure that everyone who has either helped with the creation of the book or has shown an interest has an opportunity to come along.  “It would be lovely to see you there to share our big moment!” she says.

Festivities

WordPress Christmas Pattern

On Saturday 12th December Norwich Writers’ Circle held its annual Christmas celebration.

The well-attended social was held at Anteros Arts Foundation, on Fye Bridge Street, which will be our new meeting venue from January 2016. The party saw members enjoy a wide selection of Christmas food and drink. The fun evening was further enhanced by a ‘Secret Santa’ raffle, along with a team quiz. The festive-themed quiz was then won, appropriately enough, by ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’.

At NWC’s first meeting in Anteros, on Tuesday January 19th 2016, we will be welcoming Ejike Ndaji. The Performance Poet will be demonstrating and discussing his craft, as well as setting our latest Circle Competition. We hope to see you there.
