Anything Can Happen

Norwich Writers’ Circle’s series of well-attended meetings continued on 3rd June when we welcomed back best-selling author Alexander Gordon Smith to adjudicate our Young Adult Competition.

Gordon, who set the competition earlier in the year, commented on how varied and different each of the entries were, and how hard it was to choose the winners. During the adjudication the visiting writer added that all the entrants featured really strong story pitches that grabbed his attention immediately, and that he soon felt part of the unfolding action.

After hearing a detailed, energetic and enthusiastic analysis of all the competition entries, the winners were then announced as:

1st – Planet Phoenix by Sally Newton

2nd  – Woodland Sprits by Maureen Nisbet

3rd – Reboot by James Dimelow

We were then lucky enough to hear all 3 winning entries, which led to several discussions with our writing group.

NWC next meets on 17th June when we will be holding another of our popular Manuscript Evenings. Members, who have not read their competition entries out during any previous meeting, are encouraged to bring their manuscripts along.

We look forward to seeing you then.
