Ashley Stokes

On 4th March Norwich Writers’ Circle welcomed Ashley Stokes to its meeting at The Assembly House.

During our latest well-attended meeting the writer and creative writing tutor spoke to us about his involvement in launching the independent publisher Unthank Books.

The interesting and humorous talk covered Ashley’s love of reading and writing at a young age, and how through various incidents in his life, including a stint in adult education, all lead to Unthank Books launch in early 2010.

Ashley commented that Unthank Books actively encouraged all writers of quality, regardless of age and chosen genre. The small press currently publishes 6 books a year, and is looking to expand in the future, offering more variety at a greater value.

The evening concluded with an enjoyable Q&A session where members discussed several subjects raised earlier in the meeting.

NWC next meet on 18th March. This meeting will see the return of Lynne Mortimer, who shall be adjudicated our Pantomime script competition.

Entrants into the Pantomime script competition are reminded, that where possible, to bring multiple couple of their entry along on the 18th. These copies will then enable fellow Circle members to perform the play extract to everyone within our writing group.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
