Love Norwich Writers’ Circle

On 19th March Norwich Writers’ Circle welcomed back Mills & Boon author Kate Hardy to a well-attended meeting at The Assembly House.

Kate returned to adjudicate our Modern Romance Story Competition, which she set earlier in the year.

The author commented how impressed she was with all the competition entrants, citing that she found the entries really refreshing, and also how she was pleased with the standard of our work overall. Kate went onto say that the entries provided her with everything she was looking for, including foreshadowing of any conflict to come, plus the various characters were also well-described and rounded.

The visiting writer concluded by encouraging everyone to carry on writing, and to submit our work to agents, as we may well be surprised by the results.

The competition winners were then announced as:

1st – The Ivy Ferrari Cup – At Sea – by Sally Newton

2nd – Afternoon At The Match – by Jean Dorricott

3rd –  Dogs Must Be Carried – by Anne Funnell

Highly Commended – Dancing Blind – by Victoria Bartlett

The evening ended with reading of all the winning competition entries. These readings then lead to further feedback and discussion within our writing group.

Norwich Writers’ Circle next meet on 2nd April when our Publicity Officer, Victoria Bartlett, will be holding a Science Fiction workshop. We hope to see you there.
