Natalie Butlin: Literary Agent

On 5th March Norwich Writers’ Circle welcomed Literary Agent Natalie Butlin, who works for The Christine Green Authors’ Agency, to a packed Kent Room at The Assembly House.

The interesting evening saw Natalie discuss her career to date, along with the history of her agency, plus the wider roles that her job entails.

To illustrate what is expected from writers wishing to represented by an agent, as an exercise, Natalie asked everyone to summarise a piece of writing in 50 words or less.

In addition to the above exercise Natalie also demonstrated the do’s and don’ts of writing submission letters and synopsis. To see the examples used during the talk, please go here.

The meeting drew to a close with a Q&A session with the visiting agent, which then led to further varied discussions within our writing group.

NWC next meet on 19th March when Kate Hardy will return to adjudicate our Modern Romance Competition.

We look forward to seeing you then.
