On 19th February Norwich Writers’ Circle held a Humour workshop, hosted by its Vice-Chairman Sean Hindle. The workshop acted as an introduction to our latest in-house Competition, which will be adjudicated by local broadcaster and poet Maggie Secker later on this year.

During the evening the Competition remit was explained to us by Sean in an entertaining and educational way. It was explained to us that the Humour Competition, for The Colin Sutton Cup, would be for a satire on something that we find inescapable during daily life.

Following various discussions, and after a series of short writing exercises, we were then given the opportunity to begin our Competition entry.

Sean’s workshop notes are now available to read and download from here.

The meeting concluded with a a Manuscript Evening in which a couple of short stories were read aloud and feedback was given from the floor.

NWC next meet on 5th March when we will be welcoming Literary Agent, Natalie Butlin, who works for The Christine Green Agency. We hope to see you then.
